Francesca Berrini (US) spent a month in early 2013 at Waaw. During that time, she spent several days at the beach at Langue de Barbarie, initially looking for materials for a planned dress project, which didn't materialise.
However, on the beach she built (aided by Scott E. Ulrich) two installations out of found fishnets and flipflops. Other colourful plastic waste were made into Tibetan prayer flag-inspired guirlandes, now adorning the alley outside the Waaw building. The latter part of her stay she devoted to making collages out of West African wax fabric.
